Counterstream’s stories center the voices and experiences of people too often excluded from conversations about climate and environmental justice. Our coverage amplifies stories from Black, Indigenous, and other communities of color, low-income communities, and other historically marginalized groups. Our stories value the lived experiences of these communities and explore where climate, environmental, racial, and social justice intersect.
We are currently accepting story pitches for our Peace & Riot magazine and guest suggestions for our award-winning podcast, A People’s Climate. Story pitches should be focused on the United States, but can have an international connection.

Counterstream pays contributors for accepted pitches to our Peace & Riot magazine. Pay rates vary from issue to issue and are negotiated upon your story being accepted by our editorial team. If your pitch is accepted, we will reach out to you directly with next steps.
